European Real Estate investors see ESG principles and sustainability issues as a core element of the capital markets while 89% of investors and issuers across other sectors regard these matters as import. Amid the pandemic, $45.6bn flowed into ESG focused funds. While barriers to sustainable investment are falling, the remaining obstacle is comparability of ESG data. Issuers are moving ahead in their commitment to sustainability as 94% disclose aspects of their ESG performance to meet demands of shareholders, bondholders and bank lenders.
