People in Need (PIN) is a Czech NGO which provides development support and humanitarian help in more than 25 countries. Throughout the 25 years of its existence PIN’s programs helped millions of people worldwide and PIN has become one of the biggest non-profit organizations in Central Europe. In addition to humanitarian aid and human rights, it now also targets education and helps people living in social exclusion.
PIN (PIN Bosnia and Herzegovina office) leads SMARTER’s efforts in making energy efficient housing accessible to low-income families. The goal is to improve beneficiaries’ health and financial stability. Our research is focused on finding solutions that combine government incentives with private bank financing for people in Central and Eastern Europe. Developed research materials will be used in the next stage of the project to advocate for projects piloting new types of financing schemes and public housing meeting green buildings standards.
Participation in SMARTER consortium is in line with our greater effort to mainstream the topic of Climate change into development programs worldwide. Read more about similar project in our magazine INSPIRED and visit our website for more information.
