This webinar marks the launch of a new policy brief developed by UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre’s “Business Models and Finance to Enhance Energy Efficiency in AI and Data Centres in Emerging Economies.”
The brief highlights the urgent need to align the rapid expansion of AI and digital infrastructure with sustainable energy practices, especially in emerging economies where power systems are under strain. It identifies how innovative business models and financial instruments can unlock investment, accelerate efficiency, and ensure that digital growth is both climate-aligned and inclusive.
The webinar will:
- Present the key messages of the policy brief, including innovative business models (Energy-as-a-Service, AI-as-a-Service, outcome-based pricing) and financial tools (green bonds, Super ESCOs, blended finance).
- Showcase industry, policy, and finance perspectives to drive solutions at scale.
- Explore how governments, MDBs, and the private sector can de-risk investment and embed efficiency in national digital strategies.
Together, the panel will bring perspectives from finance, industry, technology, and policy to ensure that digital transformation advances in an efficient, inclusive, and climate-friendly way.
