Senior Advisor – Energy Efficiency

Clara is a Senior Advisor on Buildings and Finance at UNEP-CCC. With over a decade of experience, she provides expert policy advice on energy and climate-related initiatives, focusing on energy efficiency, buildings and finance. Her work spans technical advisory, policy analysis, and business strategy development, emphasizing energy transition and sustainable development.

At UNEP-CCC, Clara advises governments globally on business models for energy efficiency investments and access to finance. She also assesses the capacity-building needs of countries and cities related to energy efficiency policies, designing and overseeing capacity-building programs, and delivering both online and in-person training sessions.

Before joining UNEP-CCC, Clara worked as an Energy Efficiency Policy Analyst at the International Energy Agency (IEA). She led efforts in energy efficiency for cooling, appliances, and equipment, and was responsible for the SEAD Initiative and the E4 Latin America and China programs. Her role involved designing work programs, providing policy advice, conducting training sessions, and developing analytical frameworks. Clara also facilitated communications and engagement with policymakers and stakeholders across regions, contributing to the successful implementation of national energy efficiency plans.

Previously, Clara served as a Programme Associate and Postdoctoral Researcher at the UNEP-DTU Partnership (UDP). She focused on developing analytical frameworks and tools to facilitate the decarbonization of heating and cooling systems. She co-created several tools, including rapid assessment and prefeasibility tools for district energy, and coordinated various projects. Clara also provided capacity training for municipal officials and public authorities, developed online training modules, and delivered webinars on a number of energy efficiency topics.

Clara holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Chalmers University in Sweden.
