Global issuance of green bonds could surpass €378.00bn this year, according to Moody’s. Sustainability-linked bond (‘SLB’) issuance volumes could top €84.00bn in 2021, bringing cumulative issuance to over €841.70bn. SLBs are expected to account for around 8-10% of global debt issuance in 2021 as issuers continually seek to link capital markets activity with sustainability objectives. Global issuance of sustainable bonds in Q2 2021 jumped 65% YoY to €159.08bn. This consisted of €79.12bn of green bonds, €38.72bn of social bonds and a quarterly record €41.24bn of SLBs.
