The Bank for International Settlements (‘BIS’) developed a framework to classify and compare existing sustainable taxonomies to support the achievement of the Paris Accord and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (‘UN SDGs’).
Key Recommended Features of Taxonomies:
- Correspond to specific sustainability objectives
- Encourage development of transition taxonomies align with the Paris Agreement
- Facilitate monitoring and supervision of the evolution of certification and verification processes
- Direct a shift to mandatory impact reporting for green bonds
