Europe’s green credit issuance stood at €58.0bn by the end of 2020, increasing nearly 9x from €6.8bn at year end 2014, according to Bloomberg.
During the pandemic Europe’s green credit issuance grew 31.0% YoY. 2021 YTD issuance of €61.1bn has already surpassed 2019’s entire scope of issuance.
With the European Commission’s environmental sustainability policy initiatives and the European Central Bank’s increased focus on the green sector vis-à-vis their new monetary policy strategy, green credit supply is likely to increase throughout the year.
