The webinar will present the case study of the Zakito District Cooling project in Curacao, one of the winners of the 7th global district energy climate awards. The project is designed to utilize deep sea water to meet the cooling demand. The realization of the project will unlock the vast potential of District Cooling and related Deep Seawater Industry projects in Curaçao and the Caribbean, a market potential estimated at USD 1.0-2.0 billion. Zakito District Cooling intends to connect all suitable buildings in the Rif and Zakito area on Curacao like the Dreams resort, WTC Curaçao, the Curaçao Medical Centre and the Renaissance hotel. It uses seawater from 850m deep for the direct cooling of buildings, reducing CO2 emissions by 96% and eliminating the need for HCFCs and HFCs, at a much cheaper cost. The webinar will discuss all the practical details of planning and deploying DC projects and will help the participants to understand the risks and solutions when carrying out such a project.
