Copenhagen, Denmark – The UNEP Energy Efficiency Hub on 7 March 2014 convened a meeting with representatives from leading Danish industries with interest and strong experience in energy efficiency. This involved participation from private companies such as Danfoss, Grundfoss, Novo Nordisk, Novozymes, Velux, Maersk group, Rockwool, Seimens and Vestas.
The meeting aimed at informing the Danish industry stakeholders on the new UNEP Energy Efficiency Hub, its activities and role in the SE4ALL initiative. The meeting also served to provide information about the UNSG’s Climate Summit scheduled for September 2014 and the possible role the private sector could play in this process.
During this day long meeting with the Danish private sector bodies, UNEP presented the UNEP Energy Efficiency Hub and the Summit process, Danida informed about the Danish support to SE4ALL and a number of private sector efforts in the area of green growth. Finally, two of the companies presented best practice examples. Danfoss presented its work on district energy systems in China, and Novo Nordisk on internal efficiency programmes implemented in collaboration with some of the other participating companies. Participants also discussed the opportunities for accelerating action in breakout groups.
