C2E2 supports Kenya Ministry of Energy develop the country’s 1st National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy

C2E2 expert and a C2E2-funded local consultant participated in the 3-day retreat of the Technical Committee to provide suggestions on the exposure draft of the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy. Supporting the development of NEECS is part of the C2E2’s efforts to implement the MoU with the Kenya’s Ministry of Energy. The Ministry, which coordinates the NEECS development, hopes gear up the country’s energy efficiency actions. The TC members include representatives from the Energy Efficiency Division of the Ministry of Energy, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority, the Kenya Power, as well as the Kenya Association of Manufacturers. The TC retreat took place in Lake Naivasha Resort, which is around 80 km out of Nairobi. The 3-day event took place on 26-28 November 2019.

The Ministry is targeting to get the zero draft of the Strategy ready by mid of December and officially launched in the first half of 2020.
