A workshop on high impact opportunities (HIOs) for Energy Efficiency in India was organised on December 19 in New Delhi. The workshop was organised by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) and the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), which have been contracted by the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency to jointly carry out the study on identifying high impact opportunities for further and faster energy efficiency improvement in the country.
Preliminary findings of the project were presented to representatives from government agencies, industry, academia, private sector, financing community, and NGOs for their feedback. The workshop was attended by several high profile speakers. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General of TERI and the key note address was delivered by Mr Saurabh Kumar, Managing Director of EESL. The research project is jointly implemented by several important partners, including EESL, IIM Ahmedabad, MANIT Bhopal, and IMI Kolkatta and significant contributions by experts from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, ACC, CFCL, Vardhman Textile, BSES Rajdhani, CLASP, Department of Science and Technology.
The workshop saw the release of publication on “Good Practices and Success Stories for India”. Two more reports, one on energy efficiency improvement potential in key sectors, the other on high impact opportunities for energy efficiency improvement in India, are also at the finalisation stage. All three reports will be published by the Copenhagen Centre in early 2017.
