The executive representatives of the Institute for Climate Protection Energy and Mobility (IKEM) and the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency at the UNEP DTU Partnership have agreed upon co-operation on research and capacity building activities promoting energy conservation and energy efficiency and through a new Memorandum of Understanding.
The MoU will become the basis for the two research institutes aiming at performing joint research activities, creation of knowledge products, and organization of research-related and capacity building events as well as other capacity building activities. A main objective of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is joint research cooperation on research and capacity building activities promoting energy conservation and energy efficiency.
The IKEM’s head of the energy efficiency team, Aleksandra Novikova, PhD, said:
“The close collaboration between IKEM and UNEP DTU will allow for synergies, efficiency and effectiveness of research activities for our organizations. The collaboration will help achieve our common goals of promoting energy conservation and efficiency throughout the world to reduce negative anthropogenic impacts associated with the unsustainable pattern of energy production and use on our planet”
The Copenhagen Centre’s senior advisor, Ksenia Petrichenko, PhD, confirmed the intentions of the joint collaboration in order to strengthen the knowledge base and raise the profile of energy efficiency on an international level:
“In combination, the research focus of IKEM and advisory work of the Copenhagen Centre presents a great opportunity to provide policy-making and expert communities with scientifically strong and policy-relevant inputs on various aspects of energy efficiency”.
IKEM provides expertise and ground-breaking research on the key questions of a sustainable economic and social order. The institute examines legal and political frameworks in the fields of climate protection, energy and mobility from an interdisciplinary, integrative and international perspective. In terms of energy, IKEM is engaged in all issues concerning sustainable and innovative energy supply for the future. Focuses are on analyses of energy production and energy efficiency, demands for the infrastructure of renewable energies and the transitions towards low-carbon economies.
