Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) has signed a new Delivery Partnership with Schneider Electric, a leading digital energy management and automation company to support SEforALL on achieving universal energy access.
The four-year partnership was signed at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, by Rachel Kyte, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All, and Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Chairman & CEO at Schneider Electric.
As a partner, Schneider Electric will support work on several areas of SEforALL’s work, including the Building Efficiency Accelerator, Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator, People-Centered Accelerator and also the upcoming Electrification Accelerator. All of this work will focus on supporting faster action to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7 – access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030.
Commenting on the announcement, Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Chairman and CEO, Schneider Electric, said: “We all have a responsibility to make energy access an inalienable human right and reduce the energy divide that continues to undermine quality of life for a massive part of the population. As a responsible company, Schneider Electric has a duty to help reach this goal, which will require a collective effort, given its critical importance and the complex challenges involved.”
Since 2005, the Schneider Electric Group has monitored its performance on sustainable development through its Planet & Society barometer – which includes supporting 150,000 people receive training in energy related jobs since 2015.
“Business leadership in delivering an energy transition that leaves no one behind is critical. This partnership will support our work in creating an efficient, equal and resilient energy system that can deliver clean, affordable and reliable energy for all,” said Rachel Kyte, CEO of Sustainable Energy for All. “By joining the SEforALL partnership network, Schneider Electric is bringing their leadership to a movement that is focused on going further, faster – together – in closing the energy access gap.”
SEforALL’s Delivery Partnerships focus on a joint program of work that propels action on SDG7 forward. Delivery partners agree to contribute towards quantifiable results in energy access, renewable energy and energy efficiency, and to shared monitoring and evaluation. They can contribute analytical insights, action engagements, or both.
