Subash Dhar is a Senior Researcher at UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre and a Senior Fellow at Global Centre for Environment and Energy, Ahmedabad University. He was Lead Author for Transport Chapter in the Sixth assessment of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and was a contributing author for the fifth assessment of IPCC. His research interests include sustainable urban transport, low carbon development in developing countries, technology transfer and climate change and he has published a number of peer-reviewed papers on these topics. He holds a doctoral degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
He has extensive experience in implementing projects and proposal development. He is the Regional Coordinator for the Asia Pacific within the Technology Needs Assessment project and also coordinates the transport-related activities at UNEP CCC. He has experience working with several countries within the Asia Pacific region and a number of countries in Africa. He has been involved in promoting electric mobility in cities as a means of reducing air pollution, improving access and reducing CO2 emissions.
He has authored a number of guidebooks/toolkits for capacity building in the area of technology transfer and low carbon transport including the UN Environment toolkit for Low Carbon Mobility Planning for cities.
