Piyush Sharma is an energy professional with over 17 years of experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating policies related to Industrial energy efficiency. He played a pivotal role in implementing the Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme for larger industrial entities in partnership with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). Currently, he is working as the Deputy Head of Energy Efficiency Projects at GIZ, supporting programs in district cooling, carbon markets, MSME financing, decarbonization, and technology implementation, among others. His professional background encompasses a range of roles, including design engineering, commissioning, operations, and efficiency optimization within Thermal Power Plants. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA in Strategy and Leadership.
