Coordinator

Pekka coordinates the global 10YFP Sustainable Buildings and Construction Programme that Ministry of the Environment, Finland leads and RMIT University from Australia, UNEP and WGBC support as Co-Leads. Before this position I acted e.g. as a Key Account Manager and Principal Scientist for VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland developing EcoCity concept for emerging economies and developing countries and prepared such projects successfully in Egypt, Zambia, Tanzania, Libya and Morocco and before those contributed to similar projects in China, Kenya, Malaysia and Vietnam. Pekka has also served over ten years as a Visiting Professor for Sustainable Built Environment research at University of Salford in the UK.

Pekka has practical experience from building design and construction in Europe and in developing countries. During the past 20 years Pekka has actively contributed to leading international, research covering the areas of procurement systems, performance management, resource efficiency and the use of core indicators. Pella has an extensive international network covering different stakeholders in the real estate and construction sector.
