Lipeng Zhang holds a Ph.D. in District Heating from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). She has worked in the district heating field for almost twenty years. Lipeng personally experienced critical policies/transitions related to heat reform in China, such as Coal to Electricity, fuel conversion from Coal to Natural gas, heat metering, and billing through participating in a number of actual cases. She also published some international journal articles to elaborate on how to utilize Danish district heating know-how to improve China’s urban heating systems from technical, economic, and environmental points of view. She once worked as a senior consultant at Danfoss to support city-level district heating projects, at UNEP’s “The District Energy in Cities Initiative” to provide international expertise to the Initiative’s work in pilot cities and countries in Asia, and tailored ‘deep-dive’ support. In 2021, she joined Danish Energy Agency as an external consultant to support the strategic sector cooperation (SSC) project between China and Denmark on clean heating to utilize and transfer Danish experiences to China to develop clean and renewable heating.
