This book, released by the Energy Performance Measurement Institute, provides significant information on worldwide energy use and residential sector energy use, including many factors that are unique to the residential sector. Energy performance measurement methods and data are presented. Simplification of residential sector energy performance measurement is a key theme.
Simple key performance indicators are used to present the state of the world residential sector, with additional detail on the United States and Europe, as well as developed and developing countries as a bloc. Knowledge about the residential sector is used to identify policy considerations.
The last part of the book discusses energy and carbon reduction policies; how historical policies have not worked and what must be done if real results are desired.
