This module presents the background of policy development in DES planning. It is composed of five parts:
- Part I. Context for urban planning
- Part II. Definition of policy development
- Part III. A systematic framework to integrate DES in urban planning
- Part IV. Best practices from China, Japan and an overview on various European cities
- Part V. Synthesis & conclusions
After completing Module 5, participants will be able to:
- Describe, understand and discuss the role integrating DES in urban planning
- Recognize key steps to integrate DES in urban planning
- Define key actions from local authorities to ensure the integration in the process
- List the strengths and limitations of integrating DES into urban planning
