Bringing Energy Efficiency to COP21: Lessons from G20 Achievements (Webinar)

The Clean Energy Solutions Center, in coordination with the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC), hosted this webinar to highlight the energy efficiency achievements that have resulted from international cooperation under the G20—and how these offer solutions to the COP21 discussions.
At the G20 Leader’s Summit in Brisbane in November 2014, G20 countries agreed to work together to further energy efficiency both in their domestic policies and internationally (through the G20 Energy Efficiency Action Plan). On 2 October in Istanbul, G20 Energy Ministers provided strong support to this year’s achievements and to proposed work for the Chinese G20 in 2016, marking a key milestone for international cooperation on energy efficiency. This webinar will discuss those accomplishments and future proposed work. IPEEC has been at the heart of the implementation of the G20 Energy Efficiency Action Plan this year. In this 60-minute webinar, Benoit Lebot, IPEEC’s Executive Director, shared the significant achievements scored in each area of the G20 Energy Efficiency Action Plan, along with plans for 2016. And, presentations were followed by an interactive question and answer session with the audience.

MR. BENOÎT LEBOT, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY COOPERATION
With over 20 years’ experience in Energy Efficiency, Mr. Lebot brings highly valuable expertise to the IPEEC Secretariat. During his extensive career he has worked for the French National Energy and Environmental Agency (ADEME), the International Energy Agency (IEA), and the United Nations Development Programme. Having joined IPEEC in March 2014, Mr. Lebot aims to support IPEEC member states in further elevating energy efficiency on the international policy agenda and support the member states in the implementation of their work streams.
 
ZOE LAGARDE, G20 ADVISER AND PROJECT MANAGER, IPEEC
Zoe Lagarde was detached from the Australian Government to IPEEC to assist in implementing the G20 Energy Efficiency Action Plan. Prior to this, she worked on international and domestic energy issues focusing on energy efficiency—within the Federal Department of Climate Change. She started her career in low-carbon technologies, working for a Brussels-based startup company.
